Our summer has been filled with a ton of banana ice cream. I honestly don’t think we’ve ever consumed so many bananas before. Good thing that bananas have so many vital nutrients and powerful antioxidants. They contain a good amount of magnesium and potassium which are especially important for Alex’s heart health.
By replacing banana ice cream with traditional high calorie ice cream, we’ve been keeping our health goals in check therefore keeping our waist lines slim. As the colder months are coming now, we are not willing to give up this creamy goodness! With a little tweaking of our traditional flavors, here lies our almighty fall inspired creation… pumpkin spice banana ice cream!
This flavor allows us to keep our holiday mentality along with our favorite cool treat. So bring on the wool blankets and plaid scarves because we are ready for Fall and prepared for the coolness it will bring.
This recipe is going on my list for Thanksgiving must-haves. Can you imagine a scoop of this on top of a slice of pumpkin pie? I’m already getting in the spirit just thinking about it!
If you’re not on the pumpkin spice bandwagon, that’s totally fine! The beauty of banana ice cream is that it can be totally customizable. Just replace the pumpkin with cocoa powder if you’re a chocolate fan. If you have a sweeter side, try mixing in your frozen fruit of choice like strawberries or blueberries.
We typically use unsweetened almond milk as we always have it on hand but you can experiment with coconut milk, soy milk and even rice milk. You can really tap into your innovative side and get creative with this!

Could you replace bananas with plantain? My son us allergic to bananas but not plantain.
Brittany Kruse says
Hi Joanne! I personally have never used plantains but I don’t see why you couldn’t!
